Folks, I'm embarrassed to admit it, which is probably why I never
did under the _old_ TML, but I've decided that a fresh start
means a fresh start all around.

I'm on a PC-based BBS whose news and mail gateway is fragged.

What this means is that I can't depend on certain stuff to come
through as originally formatted, and I occasionally get long
messages as two or three separate messages. This sucks.

As far as the formatting goes: If you're using TABS for
alignment, please set your editor to replace TABS with an
appropriate number of spaces, and set your right margin to stick
a hard line break in before about column 75 (65 is better). I'm
screaming at my SysOps to get this bovine fecal matter fixed, but
progress is ... difficult ... at best.

  Much appreciated.

I developed a short spreadsheet this evening to help "flesh" out my
worlds as my players explore them. It's detailed data on worlds, randomly
generated from the base UPP of Size, Atmo, & Hydro. I took the ranges
from TNE rules and applied them (uniform distributions) to get:
Actual Size
Pressure in ATMs
Hydrographics %
Gravities
Density
Horizon (formula stolen from old striker)

I stuck it all into an Excel spreadsheet, if anyone's interested. I uploaded
it to the FTP site at ghost.cc.missouri.edu /PUB/Traveller/TNE/Planet.XLS.

There's also a version for Lotus: Planet.WK1 and Planet.FMT

But how does a battledress equiped soldier kill another battledress
equiped soldier without a crew operated weapon?

>>>>> A BD equiped soldier can lift and use the equivelant of a crewed
weapon of non-BD infantry. BD weaponry should be an order of
magnitude heavier than stardard infantry weaponry. Is this not
 the case if FF&S?

The Plasma and Fusion
weapons have less firepower than a TL-10 4cm RAM grenade.

>>>>> Hmm, I don't own FF&S or any TNE material. As I recall there were
a couple of F/PGMPs that could be used only by BD equiped troops, and
they were quite a bit more destructive than those that could be
carried and fired by a single light infantry soldier.

The potential energy stored in chemical bonds is much less than the
ionization energy needed to strip electrons. An accelerated bolt
of plasma of low mass could equal an extremely larger mass of chemical
explosives. I'd hazard a guess the focused plasma weapons should be
*much* more destructive than chemical weapons.

If you want something out of a PGMP or a FGMP it will weight something
like 80 to 90 kilos depending on pulse power, TL, and magazine capacity.

>>>>> That many kilos is more than a single light infantry can handle alone.
Is this energy weapon rated lower than the TL10 grenade launcher as
 far as penetration goes?
